Things to Consider
- Attend a Carmen training workshop to explore the tools, technologies and approaches used by colleagues enhancing their courses with technology-based resources.
- Think critically about the Web features you wish to incorporate into your classroom. Some technologies may require the use of experts.
- Create a blueprint for your online course. Sketch out the specific Web pages, links, and supplemental resources you envision using.
- Review and discuss your plan with colleagues. Consider soliciting student input as well. The clearer your vision is for your online course, the easier it will be to develop it.
- Formulate a production plan factoring in the requisite people, technologies and timelines. This may include:
- Digitizing your content (e.g., text, images, digital video, audio, etc.) to make it much easier to manipulate.
- Begin developing your Web content by converting Microsoft Word and PowerPoint materials into an HTML format.
- Once you have assembled a reasonable amount of material, begin incorporating it into your course site.
